National Cheeseburger Day is a day to celebrate one of the cornerstone foods of Western civilization – the hamburger! And of course I just could not allow this day to pass without celebrating. So I headed to my favorite spot the Burger Barn in Manvel to sample one of their delicious burgers. When you walk-in you can’t help but notice their menu that has over 20 different types of cheeseburgers.

I opted for the vegetarian black bean burger all the way with a couple of slices of avocado and of course swish cheese. It was so flavorful and filling! So if you are looking for a cheeseburger joint that will please even the pickiest eaters. Then I suggest you check out the Burger Barn.

• A cheeseburger appeared on a 1928 menu at O’Dell’s, a Los Angeles restaurant, which listed a cheeseburger, smothered with chili, for 25 cents.
• Kaelin’s Restaurant – Louisville, Kentucky says it invented the cheeseburger in 1934.
• Denver, Colorado – 1935 – A trademark for the name “cheeseburger” was awarded to Louis Ballast of the Humpty Dumpty Drive-In.
• According to its archives, Gus Belt, founder of Steak n’ Shake, applied for a trademark on the word “cheeseburger” in the 1930s.
